The EMAS (Ethnic Minority Achievement Strategy) department is a part of the diverse Inclusion family at Lea Manor High School.
Our focus is on students from ethnic minority backgrounds and we walk with them along the path to success from their initial interview at the school, welcoming them on their first day, assessing their language and educational strengths and needs. The EMAS team ensure all students have a successful integration into school life and experience academic success.
We value the richness and diversity that students from different ethnic backgrounds bring to our school and strive to help them. We encourage our students to pursue their interests and passions and to translate their language competences into GCSE success where the qualification is available in their respective languages.
We support students in improving their command of English through in-class support, one-to-one and group sessions and by receiving intensive support with English and Maths. We work closely with all departments to raise the attainment and confidence of ethnic minority students and to make sure they are working to their full potential.
