Lea Manor competed at the annual Luton Schools Town Sports on Friday 3rd July. We took a team of over 50 students from all year groups to compete across a range of athletic events.
Town sports is a prestigious event and it is very difficult to get through the selection process; only one student is allowed to compete in each event compared to the cup competitions where two are allowed.
Throughout the day, students competed in heats and then finals to determine the schools position overall. There were a number of outstanding performances from Lea Manor Students including Joshua Neufville setting a new track record to win the 200m in 23.4 seconds and Caitlin Dominy-Lewis smashing her 800m Personal Best by 10 seconds to come second and also finishing first in the long jump. The relay teams did exceptionally well, with several second places and no relay team coming below fourth in any year group.
The points system worked by giving first place eight points all the way down to one point for eighth place. If students came in the top eight they got points for the school.
Thanks to the efforts of the Lea Manor students, the school secured sixth place out of 11 schools, with Cardinal Newman winning overall.
