Pokemon proves popular

The school library has recently been hosting a Pokeman Card Club for year 7s and 8 students on a Tuesday after school from 3 pm to 4pm; it has proved to be extremely popular with our students!

Mrs Hale, our school librarian, explains that the library is all about reaching out to young people, tapping into their interests and through these, helping them understand all of the library offerings, as well as helping them improve their literacy skills.

‘I love the library when it is buzzing with young, enthusiastic, enquiring minds and Pokemon seems to excite our younger students and allows them to work on their planning, negotiating and social skills’.

Year 8 pupil, Peter, explains that he finds playing Pokemon improves his ability to think strategically and having a club at school has enabled him to expand his friendship circle and meet new students.
