Year 10 Students took part in a controlled assessment this week which involved dropping cake cases off a high balcony!
Students below had special timers which calculated the time elapsed as the cases dropped. The number of cases was increased and the speed and acceleration was measured.
They were able to observe that an object accelerates for a set amount of time then reaches terminal velocity where it descends at a constant speed.
The experiment is an assessed element of the course as well and being good fun!
