Peer Education – Child Sexual Exploitation
This week has seen the start of a group of our Year 9 and 10 students delivering a series of three lessons about Child Sexual Exploitation to our Year 8 students, aimed at giving a greater understanding of this important issue and arming our students with the necessary skills to stay safe. The Year 9 and 10 students have had 10 weeks of training from Brook (Teenage Health and Well-Being Charity). The lessons are centred on healthy relationships and keeping safe. Session 1 is about the grooming cycle, lesson 2 about healthy relationships and lesson 3 about online safety.
This work builds on the work which is delivered in the curriculum and through events like Chelsea’s Choice which was performed to the whole of Year 8 and 9 earlier in the year. To find more information about this important issue and how to help keep your child safe please refer the safeguarding section on our website.
Well done to the students delivering the sessions, a very thoughtful presentation delivered in a professional manner, followed by intelligent and productive group discussions with the groups.
